Arrival / Departure Information
  • Our venue for this retreat is on the outskirts of Izamal, Yucatan, roughly 3 hrs away by car from Cancun .

  • You will have to fly in/out of Cancun International Airport (256 kms away)

  • You can rent a car and come on your own, or for an extra cost you can use a transportation shuttle we will arrange to/from Cancun Airport

  • At the start of the retreat, our shuttle pickup is on Sunday at 7:30am at the Fairfield Inn & Suites Cancun Airport Hotel, and drop off is in the same place at the end of the retreat on Saturday around 4pm.  Someone from our english speaking staff will be there to greet you and travel with you to the Hacienda.

  • You are required to fly in to Cancun the day prior to the retreat on Saturday to make the shuttle. 

  • On the outbound if you’ve never been to Mexico's Caribbean, we recommend you stay an extra day or two to enjoy the beach in Cancun, Playa del Carmen or Tulum.    If you must fly out on Saturday book your flight after 7:30pm. 

  •  If for any reason you need transportation at a different time, no problem, we can arrange a private taxi to/from the center.

COVID Policies & Procedures

The wellbeing of our guests and associates is of paramount importance.    With this in mind and based on local health authorities and the CDC recommendations regarding COVID, we have generated policies and procedures to create a safe environment during your stay with us.   

 

All retreat participants are required to agree to the following:

 

I. COVID Testing

  1. To ensure the safety of the retreat space and minimize any potential risk of contagion; all retreat participants will be required to present a negative PCR or Antigen COVID test result at check-in.Test Results must be recent, i.e. issued not earlier than 72 hrs prior to check-in.
     

  2. Participants agree to receive a temperature check from a touchless thermometer on the morning of the retreat start date, prior to boarding the bus to the Center.
     

  3. In the event that any Participant exhibits COVID like symptoms and is experiencing a fever in excess of 100°F the morning of the retreat start date, they will not be permitted to join the retreat and will be subject to further testing.If such test confirms the presence of COVID, any deposits paid will be fully transferable as a credit for a future retreat date.

 

II. Travel Requirements

  1. Participants agree to arrive in Cancun at least 1 day prior to the start of the retreat.  
     

  2. Prior to your departure to Mexico.  It is important to be mindful of your potential exposure to the virus after you have been tested for COVID in the days leading to your departure.  We strongly urge you to follow safe distancing measures, wear a mask and avoid crowded public spaces.
     

  3. Participants if they receive a positive COVID test result and/or are experiencing any of the following symptoms prior to their departure:

    • Fever (>100°F)

    • Respiratory symptoms such as sore throat, cough, or shortness of breath

    • Flu-like symptoms such as muscle aches, chills, or severe fatigue

    • Changes in sense of taste or smell
       

  4. Participants agree to while en route to Mexico:

  • Clean your hands often.

    • Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after you have been in a public place, after touching surfaces frequently touched by others, after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing, and before touching your face or eating.

    • If soap and water are not available, bring and use hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. Cover all surfaces of your hands and rub your hands together until they feel dry.

  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth.

  • Maintain safe distancing measures.

  • Wear a mask and/or face shield in public.

  • Cover coughs and sneezes with paper tissue or a flexed elbow.

  • Avoid crowded enclosed spaces.

  • Monitor your health constantly.If possible COVID symptoms present themselves en route or upon arrival in Mexico, please alert Arkana staff immediately.

 

III. Other

  1. If retreats are cancelled due to COVID, all deposits paid are nonrefundable.   Participants affected by cancellations will be able to reschedule their retreats at no additional cost within 12 months of the cancellation date at any of our locations.

    • We highly encourage all participants to purchase flight and travel insurance to cover contingencies and nonrefundable deposits and expenses.

    • When purchasing travel insurance, make sure your policy includes either COVID specific terms or a CFAR (Cancel for Any Reason) benefit to guarantee pandemic coverage.

    • Make sure you read carefully and understand all the terms of your insurance policy.

    • Recommended vendors for travel insurance are: insuremytrip.com and travelex.
       

  2. Participants agree to comply and cooperate with Arkana staff to continue to monitor everyone’s health during the retreat through periodic wellness checks. 

  • In the event that possible COVID symptoms appear, participant will be tested for COVID.If test results are positive, participant agrees to leave the retreat to be treated off-site.Guests whose retreat is suspended prematurely because of COVID will receive a credit for the unused portion of the retreat to be used at a future retreat.

 

Our Commitment to Hygiene and Safety

  • Use of the highest classification of industry grade disinfectants recommended by the CDC and WHO to treat known pathogens.

  • Enhanced cleaning protocols, in frequency and duration of high traffic areas and surfaces (bathrooms, sinks, door handles, switches)

  • Availability of alcohol-based hand sanitizer in common areas.

  • Thorough room disinfection and sanitation prior to the start of each retreat.

  • Personnel Training

    • Proper use of PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) for non-ceremony personnel

    • Personal hygiene best practices and requirements

    • Food safety and preparation: hygiene and disinfection

  • Ongoing temperature and good health checks for all personnel

 

Ceremonies Protocol

  • Use of single use paper cups for liquid Medicines

  • Use of single use sanitized glass pipes for Sapo

  • No handshakes, hugs, or touching of guests, unless absolutely necessary
     

Guests’ Protocol

  • Everyone will have to provide a recent negative PCR or Antigen COVID test result

  • Temperature checks with touchless thermometer prior to local transport

  • As needed periodic wellness checks during the retreat

  • No more than 2 people sharing a room

  • Minimizing touching between other guests and staff, including handshakes and hugs
